A member of the Bulgarian National Association for Burns and Plastic Surgery. A member of the International Confederation for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS), of the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), of the International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI) and the European Association for Burns (EBA). Since 1985 Dr. Tonev has worked in the field of plastic surgery at the Clinic for burns and plastic surgery in Plovdiv. He has spent years training at the Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Sofia as well as international courses in Antalia - Turkey;  Athens - Greece; Paris - France and Monaco. With the establishment of the speciality 'Plastic Surgery' he passed successfully the examination and became one of the top specialists having a diploma in Bulgaria. In 1995 in Plovdiv and Southern Bulgaria Dr. Tonev introduced the method of sculpturing the body by way of liposuction. Thanks to the accumulated experience he extends this technique over almost all parts of the body. Up to now he is among the most prominent specialists in that field in Bulgaria.
